Community Outreach

The RSCS is active in community outreach. We have donated hundreds of children’s literature to Huntington Hospital in our Books for Siblings program. The brothers/sisters of newborns receive new books at this exciting time. The RSCS also donates books to the Opening Word program in Amityville, Huntington Station and Wyandanch. This is a literacy program that teaches English language and job readiness skills to immigrant women. Books are given to the women for their children to enjoy.

The RSCS is proud that Christine Guercio was able to receive a $500 donation from NYSUT'S Retirement Council #23 and a $1000 grant from NYSUT in our mission to donate children's books. The goal of our outreach programs is to encourage parents to promote a love of reading and help children become lifelong readers.
